Synopsis:
Based on a true story, From the Mississippi Delta chronicles the hard life of a black girl born in Greenwood, Mississippi in 1944. Directed by New York's Jerry Maple, Jr., this riveting production stars Tampa actress Brandii Edwards, and Miami's Carolyn Johnson and Carey Hart. All actresses play multiple roles spanning gender and race. Dr. Holland's coming-of-age story is a magnetic memoir of a young girl's life derailed by poverty, molestation, rebellion, expulsion from school, prostitution, shoplifting, jail and assault. However, the troublemaker finds her saving grace when she stumbles across the civil rights movement and finds herself developing into a leader.
