Synopsis:
The Piano Lesson,August Wilson's second Pulitzer Prize winning play, is the compelling drama of the Charles family with roots extending to Mississippi and the era of slavery. set in 1930's Pittsburgh in the home of Berniece Charles, an ornately carved upright piano stands at the heart of the play. Tension mounts when Berniece's exuberant brother, Boy Willie, bursts into her life uninvited and unexpected. His dream is to buy the same Mississippi land that his family had worked as slaves. To do this, he plans to sell their 137 year old antique piano for the cash he needs. But Berniece refuses to sell because the piano is a reminder of the history that is their family legacy.
